Malen's Restaurant

Resto Name: Malen's Pizza Pasta Bakeshop and Restaurant
Location: Noveleta, Cavite
Type: Filipino, Spanish, Mexican, American
Average Price Per Dish: P100-250

If you want to dine in classy and delicious restaurant that is near Cavite City then Malen's is definitely the place for you.

This resto is located at Noveleta, Cavite. I miss the ambiance of the small original place but the good thing about the new location - the place is huge enough to accommodate special occasions. It has a beautifully landscaped garden that is ideal for weddings and big birthday celebrations.

The restaurant is tag as pizza pasta but the funny thing is the several times we have eaten here including their former location we never bothered to try any pizza nor pasta dish so on our latest food trip we decided to order ...

Pepperoni and Mushroom "Trias" - P157

Surprisingly this is much more yummier than Greenwich and even other popular pizza restaurants. Now I know where to buy whenever I crave for a pizza.

Chicken Wrap - P121

Yummy and the sour cream is so tasty.

Lasagna - P105

A bit bland but the serving is just right for its price.

Pink Lemonade - P45

Our all time favorite pink lemonade.

Iced Tea - P35

This resto also offers a wide range of products in their pasalubong counter that is very tempting.

Lumpiang Prito (Vegetarian version)

Here's another version of lumpia prito which is completely made of vegetables. This recipe was inspired by the cooking show titled Spoon on Net-25 wherein Mariz and Ronnie Ricketts are the guest stars.

Ingredients:
2 large camote, cut into thin strips
1 large potato, cut into thin strips
1 large bellpepper, cut into thin strips
1 large carrots, cut into thin strips
butter
salt and pepper
lumpia wrappers
oil for frying

Procedures:
In a large wok, fry all vegetables in butter until cooked. Season with salt and pepper. Drain and cool mixture.

Wrap a spoonful of filling in each egg roll wrapper. Heat oil and drop one by one each rolled lumpia. Cook until lightly golden brown. Drain on a plate with paper towel and serve promptly with vinegar dip or ketchup.

Tortang Giniling

Torta is a Filipino omelette of Spanish influence which is so diverse that you can use whatever ingredients you want. This torta recipe is a way of recycling leftover Carioca into another delicious meal.

Ingredients:

1 cup letfover Carioca
2 eggs
oil for frying

Procedures:
Heat a little oil in a non-stick pan. Spread Carioca evenly. Beat eggs until foamy before pouring it to the mixture. Cook for 2-3 minutes then flip on the other side just like a large pancake. Serve with catsup.

Aristocrat

Resto Name: Aristocrat
Location: Mall of Asia
Type: Filipino
Average Price Per Dish: P150-350

Clam Chowder - P58

Tasted more like a paste than a soup and the bacon bits are not even fried.

Sizzling Tofu - P170

I like this better than the one served in Congo Grille.

Grilled Boneless Chicken - P149
Yummier grilled chicken than the one sold at Inasal or Reyes BBQ.

Hot Tea - P37

Sago't Gulaman - P55
Yummy !

Except for the soup all were delicious. I just wish this resto has a better ambiance and the air-conditioning is functioning fully.

It involves three cooking procedure first you need to steam the crab and remove all its meat then you cooked the meat filling. Lastly the assembly and frying part.

Ingredients:
6 pcs crabs, cooked
1 egg, beaten
1 small white onion, finely diced
1 small bell pepper, finely diced
1 small potato, cut into small cubes
2 tbsp cooking oil
salt and pepper to taste
a dash of flour or bread crumbs
½ cup cooking oil, for frying

Remove all crab meat including aligi, set aside. Clean and save the top shells. Heat oil in a pan. Sauté onion, bell pepper and potatoes until cook. Add crab meat and cook for another minute. Cool.

Place spoonfuls of mixture inside the top shells, making sure it is compacted.

Sprinkle with flour or bread crumbs on top then dip in beaten egg. Heat oil in a non-stick pan. Fry the crabs shell at the bottom first, ladle some of the hot oil on top to set the stuffing, cook for around 1-2 minutes. Flip and cook the other side for about a minute. Drain them in absorbent kitchen paper towels. Serve immediately.
