Tinolang Halaan is a Filipino style soup made out of clams cooked with green papaya and miswa.
1 kilo halaan, clams
1 pack miswa (optional)
1 bundle sili leaves
1 small green papaya, peeled and sliced
1 thumb size ginger, sliced into strips
1/2 head garlic, chopped
1 medium size onion, sliced
2 tbsp. fish sauce
salt to taste
Wash clams, drain and place in a bowl. Cover with water and let sit for several hours to allow the clams
to vomit sand. Rinse thoroughly. In a pot sauté garlic, ginger
and onion until fragrant. Add in fish sauce, papaya and clams. Cook until shells starts to open.
Add enough water and bring to a boil add in miswa and sili leaves. Simmer. Serve immediately.
