Gervasio Pangilinan

Gervasio Pangilinan was born to Doroteo Reyes Pangilinan and Nicolasa Basilio Enriquez. Recognized for his valuable contributions, General Mariano Trias appointed him as Primer Tiniente de Sanidad del Ejercito Filipino. Serving as Municipal President in 1919, he actively participated in local governance. In 1926, he embarked on a significant endeavor by penning "La Historica de Cavite," widely regarded as the first compiled history book of Cavite. At the age of 69, Gervasio Pangilinan passed away on May 13, 1945. His remarkable contributions to Cavite's history and literature were posthumously recognized with an award from the Jaycees Association in 1975 and by Mayor Timoteo Encarnacion in 2000. In June 13, 2001, the Cavite Studies Center conferred upon him the title of "Historiador at Rebolusyonaryo" or Historian and Revolutionary. We express our gratitude for his profound impact on our society and commend his brave efforts in documenting the history of Cavite, a work dedicated to the people of Cavite. In 2021, his centennial year, his house was symbolically declared a heritage house by his descendants, further honoring his legacy.
