Big Ben's Kitchen

Resto Name: Big Ben's Kitchen
Location: Imus, Cavite
Type: Filipino
Average Price Per Dish: P100-P200

Let's start the year with a yummy resto review ....

Few days before 2017 ended, I was finally was able to try this small and cozy resto in Medicion, Imus. Been invited twice months ago by the owner himself but it was only last December 27 that it materialized at last.

This small home resto is located exactly in 385 Medicioan 1st-D Imus, Cavite.
The resto has been operating for 3 years and is located in the renovated ancestral house.  According to the owner Chef Gene Gutierrez, this is the 3rd resto in the area a few years ago - now they are 18.

The Menu

The price range is relatively ranging from P100-P200

This are the foods sampled :)

Calamansi Cucumber Honey - P50
Yummy and refreshing. Perfectly blended.

Pancit LangLang
It is called pancit but it is more like a mami. I heard this dish for quite a while but this is the first time I tasted it. Sotanghon in hot broth that took hours to boil for flavor with cabbages, scrambled egg topped with fried garlic. It was a stomach filling warm old fashion sabaw.

Fiesta Menudo (family) - P218
This is my first time eating a menudo that is tuyo and not masarsa. It is soooo yummy. Every bite reminds you of old typical Pinoy handaan because of the very home cooked bursting flavor. The meat pieces are so soft and perfectly cooked. MUST TRY !!!

Spicy Fish Fillet with Cabbage - P166
Dori is fried in batter then topped with sauteed cabbage and chili flakes. If one is fond if spicy dishes this is worth a try.

Adobong Tinali - P216
This dish is inspired by the cocks of the sabungeros that are talunan sa topada or sabong or cockfight thus the name. But tihs dish is made from chicken in nearby poultry farm in Cavite. Yummy and it is also sold in bottle in the resto.

Fiesta Kare-Kare - P236
One of the best tasting Kare-kare. The peanut is freshly grounded rather than the typical peanut butter of most Kare-kare no being served. The meat they used was cara which was boiled for 8 hours so basically it melts in your mouth. The bagoong completes the Kare-Kare experience.
MUST TRY !!!

D' Famous Longga Meal - P88
The most popular of the resto dish and its specialty of course is the longganisa.   The longganisa is made of lean pork meat and has no preservatives. MUST TRY !!!

Longganisa is best paired with their very own yummy sukang sasa with minced garlic and chopped chillies.

Leche Flan - P128
For dessert, this yummy leche flan made purely from egg yolks. How could I tell? It tasted so much like the recipe we do at home. The leche flan taste and creaminess that I am searching has finally found its match LOL and its has a bonus because this one has macapuno in the middle! YUMMY!!! For its price this leche flan is a steal. MUST TRY !!!

The small cozy homey feel resto.

You can write on the walls - COOL !!!

Big Ben's longganisa recipe came from the grandmother Chef Gene. He made some improvement on it and it is now more popularly known as D'Famous Imus Longganisa.
