CAFE Antix

CAFE Antix has been operational for years now but its only tonight that finally decided to try it out at last. The cafe has recently been featured in Umagang Kay Ganda because of its Halloween pakulo. Its specialty of course is coffee but since not a coffee person so tried some of the dishes they offer.

The menu choices consists mainly of coffee, teas, cold frappes/drinks, pizza, burger, pasta and sandwiches.

Garlic Parmesan Wedges - P70
This one is happiness. The best tasting among all the menu items we tried sampling tonight. The potato wedges are perfectly cooked. Crunchy in the outside and soft in the inside. The fresh fried garlic and parmesan completed the yummy flavor of the potatoes. Surprisingly unlike other wedges it didn't turned soggy up to the time we almost finished eating. Perfect.

 Three Cheese Bypass - P140
According to the menu this burger has cheddar cheese, mozzarella and cheese sauce. The only cheese evident in taste is the cheese sauce. Didn't find a hint of cheddar much more mozzarella. The patty is soft, tender and juicy.  

 Philly Cheesesteak Sandwich - P220
The only reason why we ordered this pricey sandwich is because its the only item in the menu that used a Cavite ingredient which incidentally is the famous quesillo. The sandwich was served in a very huge shallow dish which was a bit off in presentation - para siyang nasa kawalan. Placing just a handful of potato chips on the side would have made the plate way better in presentation. The sandwich has thin slices of beef, red bell peppers, buttons mushrooms, caramelized onions and the quesillo. In terms of taste - not appealing and has no wow factor at all. Not worth the price.  

I also found out the bacalao pizza should be ordered at least three days in advance. It was the other Caviteñean inspired dish I thought I could have sampled today. 

Antix Lasagna - P110
This photo looks so yummy in contrast to its actual taste. This is the biggest disappointment of the night. The toasted bread is yummy but the lasagna itself has the aftertaste of UFC ketchup. Swear it tasted like UFC in every bite. The very thin layer of white sauce has barely any effect and even the cheese on top to counter the ketchup taste. The cheaper priced lasagna sold in Samala Kitchen Delights in plastic rectangular containers tasted way better than this one even that one is on the sweeter side. This is the only dish that we weren't able to finish tonight.

Macha Green Tea Frappe 18 oz - P140
A bit sweet. Wish it has more matcha powder in it.

 Blueberry Soda - P90
Yummy and perfectly blended.

What lacks in the dishes bawing-bawi sa ambience. The coffee shop is antique inspired. I remember before when it was just a patahian and laundry shop. The area was almost bare that time and has few pieces of antique. It even has a display aparador that looks exactly like the one we have at home. Years after its a very very beautifully interior designed tambayan place for barkada and families.

Look at this old television set. This kinds are owned before by rich families. 

Since its halloween there are a lot of halloween decors all over the place. See that hand on the lamp? Galing di ba?

The waiters faces are painted like monsters and there is even a lola in long wig and saya who pops up to scare. But funny the cute little girl around 2 year beside our table was not scared at all. She just keep looking and smiling at the waiter and the lola ghost lol.

They also have cheesecakes. Next time I'll try this one and the pizza.

Overall in terms of ambience CAFE Antix is a runaway winner in the entire city. This is the most cozy and relaxing tambayan plus it also has free wifi. Service is really good and the waiters are very attentive. In terms of food it still needs improvement in terms of flavors and taste.

    Thank you for your feedback and blog about our coffee shop.

    First, let me apologize on behalf of Cafe Antix, for putting too much cheese sauce on your 3-cheese Bypass wherein it overwhelmed the mozzarella and cheddar cheese. I have already instructed our staff to pour just the right portion.

    I was, of course, most distressed to hear that you were completely dissatisfied with our Lasagna and Kesilyo Steak Sandwich. We have been in the food business for over 4 years now and we are serving mostly Italian and American cuisines. We went for the niche market approach and our aim is to satisfy specific market needs. To that effect, we are using premium quality ingredients to make an impact on that small market segment.

    The Lasagna is a special recipe of my Son who has a Bachelor's Degree in International Culinary Arts and Associate Degree in Culinary Management at American Hospitality Academy (AHA,Makati). He makes the sauce mostly from scratch (no UFC Ketchup, no preservatives and definitely no MSG ). Also, we generally adhere to a less-is-more food philosophy. The Kesilyo Steak Sandwich may taste "neutral" and plain to some, but that is where our condiments enter the scene, namely: salt, pepper, hot sauce, etc. In fact, when we first guested at UKG Dos (5 in all), Ka Tunying, Ms. Amy Perez, and especially Ms. Bernadette Sembrano, loved the Lasagna and the other dishes that we prepared that morning. She visited us the next day with her hubby, Mr Orange Aguinaldo. When we were featured at Appetite Magazine, Ms. Nina Daza-Puyat gave her seal of approval. Even Celebrity Chef Sharwin Tee gave us two thumbs up. And I have to say that most of our customers' reviews differ from yours.

    Of course, we know that we cannot please everybody because various consumers have different taste palletes, and we do welcome constructive criticisms. We have considered your point of view carefully, may we ask you to consider ours?

    We are continually improving and innovating our products to provide Caviteños with an unforgettable dining experience and exquisite comfort food. We hope you can visit us again soon to try our other products like pizzas and pastas, and maybe, we can discuss/share different recipes. After all, we are on the same side in promoting Cavite City as a culinary destination.
